I am absolutely in love with this maxi dress from Free People! It is the coziest dress ever. I am normally a size medium but I am wearing a large here for extra comfort and flowiness. It’s hard to tell from the photos (We didn’t have the best natural light this day.), but the speckles in the fabric are actually golden and sparkle in the sunlight. So pretty!! What makes this dress even more special…it’s made in the USA! How cool is that? You don’t see that often these days.
I don’t refuse to buy things that are not made in the USA by any means, but when I see something I like and it is also made in the USA, I like to support the cause. I went to school for Fashion Merchandising and one of the common topics in my classes was labor laws in foreign countries. It’s easy to forget that foreign workers often get paid next to nothing to produce much of what we buy in America. Buying something with a label that says “made in the USA” makes me feel less guilty about my consumerism because I know the person who made the garment was compensated fairly.
On a lighter note, I’m also obsessed with my bag from the Nordstrom Trend Accessories department. It’s currently on sale for only $46.80 and it is the perfect size to fit all my daily necessities, without being overwhelmingly large. Also, I pulled my sandals out from their winter hiding because we finally have some flip flop weather here 🙂 Yay!! I forgot how much I like my leather Rainbow brand flip flops. I’m going to need to pick up some more colors of them, because as of now, I only have tan. They’re only $50 and last so much longer than ordinary plastic flip flops, so they are well worth the price.
